If you wish to stay in Bulgaria for one or more than one year, you may apply
for a residency. There are some important rules that you have to comply with
in order to be allowed to apply for residency.
- You must have a locally registered company
- You must own property
- You have to be married to a Bulgarian citizen.
The easiest way to apply for residency is to do all the paperwork in the Bulgarian
Embassy in London, but if it is not possible, you may do it here in Bulgaria.
Our solicitors will assist you in the procedure of applying for a residency. It
takes usually 30 - 40 days. You can only apply for 1 year residency at the beginning,
which will be renewed each year until 5 years.
If you become a Bulgarian resident you will have the same rights as the Bulgarians,
except the right to vote.
Holders of a long term residence permits are also expected to exchange their
driving licenses for a Bulgarian one.
